Longarone Fiere, in view of the next MIG - Mostra Internazionale del Gelato Artigianale, has sponsored some promotional initiatives for handmade ice cream. From 28 May to 3 June the successful event "Storia del Gelato" was held at Foligno (Perugia), with piazza Piermarini and the Caffè Letterario - Gelateria Ennio in the background. The event received a warm acceptance, visitors were able to admire the photographic exhibition, which goes over the heroic deeds of migrating ice cream makers, and Bruno Giacomel of Val di Zoldo's show, who prepared ice cream with the equipment used many years ago. Festitalia 2007 of Salonicco in Greece, promoted by the Italian Culture Institute, also registered an unanimous success. Longarone Fiere once again proposed the historic exhibition on ice cream making in the Institute's premises. Through its presence in Salonicco, Longarone Fiere intended to make further contacts with the world of Greek ice cream, aiming to increase the number of operators and visitors from that country at the next MIG. | | |

The Italian Ice cream Institute states that from June to September 10 million Italians will be eating ice cream in average 3-4 times a week, with a per capita consumption of 2.5 Kg in only 4 months. To this datum we can add a particularly good beginning of season: in spring, in fact, thanks to the mild temperature and the sunny days, according to the areas, ice cream consumption has undergone a total increase of between 15 and 30% compared to the same period of last year. The Italian Ice cream Makers Association and the Coldiretti, moreover, underline that Italians are increasingly appreciating products of quality and with season and territory tied flavours. Therefore, regional specialties, fresh fruit and classic creams are more and more required. | | |
